Worth noting that for now, the White House doesn't seem to be pushing for a vote to dismiss the charges against President Trump. The president's legal team and the impeachment managers had until 9 a.m. today to submit new motions, but neither side appears to have done so. Trump had been sporadically advocating for dismissing the charges altogether, but it's pretty clear that the Republicans don't have the votes to do that, so even though a motion to dismiss could still be submitted later, it's looking much likelier that Trump and his lawyers will let the trial move forward.
