FiveThirtyEight, Grantland and ESPN Films are hiring an associate producer to work out of our shared New York City studio.
The studio hosts a mix of webcasts, podcasts, short videos and single-camera interviews. What you’ll be doing: supporting, and sometimes leading, recording sessions with staffers and contributors. You’ll be helping Zach Lowe interview basketball luminaries, Nate Silver record politics videos, the Hot Takedown crew keep sports journalism honest, and more. We’re also cooking up lots of new projects, and you’ll have a voice in the room as we do it.
We’re looking for a jack-of-all-trades type who’s experienced in production and capable of handling an array of technical and creative skills, including lighting, blocking, directing, technical directing, audio engineering and audio/video editing. Just as important: We need candidates with good taste and proven editorial experience who can offer quick feedback to hosts, talent and other producers.
Your interests should match those of FiveThirtyEight and/or Grantland. Do you love data? Sports? Irreverent discussions of pop culture? All three at once?
This is a great opportunity for aspiring production professionals to be part of new and exciting initiatives at our websites and to gain experience. Interested candidates can apply here and email Ryan Nantell (Ryan dot Nantell at espn dot com for you non spambots) with any questions.
