Wisconsin Primary Elections: Live Coverage And Results
A large block of Milwaukee just reported, narrowing Clinton’s deficit with Sanders to 5 points, but The Upshot’s model expects Sanders’s lead to expand again as more of the state reports. As a benchmark, Sanders would need to beat Clinton in Wisconsin by something like 16 percentage points to make up significant ground in his pledged-delegate disadvantage with her.
Worth noting: Trump is currently ahead in Rock County, which includes Paul Ryan’s home base of Janesville, 43 percent to 36 percent. In the end, however, Cruz is likely to carry Ryan’s 1st District because it includes some of Waukesha County, where Cruz is ahead 61 percent to 22 percent.
Pretty big result is coming in on the Republican side: Cruz seems to be winning Dane County (home of Madison) with 40 percent of the vote. He’s doing so even though Kasich is getting 24 percent of the vote there. If Cruz wins Dane, he’ll might win the 2nd Congressional District. That’s a district that pre-election polls indicated might be in play for Kasich and Trump.
