What Went Down In Elections In Minnesota, Wisconsin, Vermont And Connecticut

Polls have finally closed in Minnesota, where I’ll be watching the Democratic primary in the state’s 5th District (Rep. Ilhan Omar’s seat). Once again, a member of “The Squad” faces primary challenges from a number of Democrats. A bit of background: Last week, fellow Squad members Reps. Cori Bush and Rashida Tlaib sailed through their respective primaries. But tonight could prove to be a tougher race for Omar. For one, she’s made a number of headlines since her initial 2018 election that put her in both Republicans and Democrats’s crosshairs and faces a formidable challenge from former Minneapolis City Council member Don Samuels. To be sure, Omar has handily defeated primary challengers in the past and is the favorite going into tonight’s race, but I’ll be interested to see if she can win her primary by the same large margins as her other progressive colleagues. 👀
