To go back to the earlier conversation about the new vs. old GOP — I agree with Jacob and Amelia that trying draw distinctions by looking at policy positions doesn’t get us anywhere. But I do think that the new GOP is more defined as “post-policy” than the old GOP, where post-policy candidates are more interested in posting, appearing on right-wing media and igniting culture wars. I don’t think this has taken over the entire party yet.
