Jacob, Connecticut’s preprimary convention system is very good at eliminating primaries by requiring candidates to either clear 15 percent there or mount an expensive and logistically challenging signature-gathering effort to make the ballot. That’s interesting to nerdy political observers like myself, but not great for political competition.
