ABC News projects that Mandela Barnes, the state’s lieutenant governor, will win the Democratic nomination to take on Sen. Ron Johnson. All of Barnes’s major opponents dropped out and endorsed him in the final weeks of the race.

Yeah, I agree that the Dobbs ruling shakes things up. Abortion is interesting because it’s an issue where voters have a clearer understand of which party represents what, and can connect those dots in the voting booth. It’s not murky. If the issue stays salient through November, and I think it will, I think Democrats stand to benefit.

The question for me, Nathaniel, is how bad the midterms will be for the Democrats. And it definitely seems possible that a historically unpopular Supreme Court ruling on abortion could shake things up. But yes, Jacob, I take your point that August is probably not the time to be making firm pronouncements.
