Curry launching a thousand GIFs with his reaction to the foul call there.
(Not that the Warriors haven’t gotten the benefit of some pretty soft calls as well.)
Kind of a suspect call on Curry there, looked like all-ball.
Kawhi finally hit a jumper. Maybe that’s what gets him going? He started slowly (scoring-wise) in Game 5 too.
Smooth three from Curry, then he blocks VanVleet, than he assists on a Klay layup.
That Durant injury was really about the Knicks’ offseason plans, duh.
Nate is currently watching in the shadow of an Amare jersey.
They’re the black hole of the NBA, Micah.
Oh, it always comes back to the Knicks.
FiveThirtyEight chats always come back to the Knicks.
HOW THE F ARE WE TALKING ABOUT THE KNICKS?!?!?
I think it’s probably very easy for people to forget that for a fleeting moment, the Knicks were fun.
Respect, Geoff.
Never forget Linsanity.
I’m rooting for Jeremy Lin to get his first title.
The Raptors are starting Fred VanVleet for the third straight second half. That move has worked really well for Nick Nurse.
Curry limping some after fighting that screen.
As the token foreigner, I have to root for the Raptors. Also, when he played for them, Jakob Pöltl was the first Austrian to play in the NBA!
If Toronto wins tonight, Universal Pictures should just fly Chris Pratt to the city and roll camera. Cut, print on another Jurassic Park sequel.
Raptors in 5.
My heart wants the Warriors to win the final game at Oracle. My head thinks the Raptors have mostly dominated the series and will win. My internal body clock would love to get some sleep.
My heart and my head say “Raptors in five!!!” And since that can’t happen, “Raptors in six!!!”
My heart wants the plucky Raptors to win the franchise’s first ring (and Canada’s first title since 1993). My head says dynastic teams like the Warriors win games like this more often than not in NBA history.
I don’t know who’s GOING to win but I’m also torn on who I WANT to win. Would love to see a game 7 but also wanna see the city of Toronto if they close it out tonight.
Series that started kinda slowly has gotten to be really fun.
I have no idea, and I kind of love it.
I feel the opposite way, Nate.
SO FOLKS WHO’S GONNA WIN? My heart says Warriors and my head says Raptors.
TV: “Clutch, NOOOOOOO”
Me: ** giggles uncontrollably **
Their chemistry in those commercials is 100 percent better than their chemistry on court.
Also, I laugh at every single Harden-CP3 State Farm commercial. They are all funny. I stand by that.
Chad, I think we should just be happy that she wasn’t one of those parents who MAKE their children practice at 4 a.m.
More commercial chatter: Lady, if your daughter is practicing soccer at 4 a.m., it might be time to chat about work/life balance and how to set healthy priorities.
I’ve been wanting to talk to equipment managers about how they pick which color accoutrements that teams wear for years. (The Knicks used to let Carmelo pick the color, but most teams have equipment guys do it unless there’s some sort of luck or juju involved.)
Yeah, you can always count on Goldsberry to produce some good ones. Most eye-opening one for me was back after Game 4:
I liked this one by Kirk.
That’s a whole different study, Jared.
That headband chart is as close as a chart can come to doing ASMR.
I won’t lie; I was disappointed in the headbands chart because I think it should have included all accoutrements. Shooting sleeves got the short shrift.
I’m partial to this one in today’s story by Owen Phillips (which I helped crunch the numbers on):
Kawhi Leonard is one of the all-time great clutch playoff performers. (Even though he’s pacing himself tonight.)
Micah, my favorite cool charts that we did were from this story. Like this:
The fuzziness of the bars is just 💯
Halftime question (for readers too): What’s been the best chart you’ve seen on these Finals? (From FiveThirtyEight or anyone else.)
Yes. And No.
Geoff, be honest: Are you a co-producer of Holey Moley?
Awww I missed the Holey Moley promo??
Geoff, be honest: Are you actually watching golf right now???
I think I would rather watch Steph Curry just play regular golf.
LOL. I assume every artist aspires to do college football halftime shows eventually.
The Raptors have now won 16 of 20 quarters in the series. (And tied two.) Golden State won the third quarter of Game 2 and the first quarter of Game 5, and that’s it. Pretty incredible.
You and I appear to have a different understanding of “good,” Neil.
