I think the moment where Kaine recited the litany of Trump insults against vets, POW’s, women, etc. And Pence didn’t really get to reply to that, but he did sort of seem, at least to me, to nod. I’m sure it was some sort of debate reflex, but it made for an interesting visual. I will say that Trump is much more the third character on stage than Clinton — Kaine seems to me to be successfully making this a referendum on Trump’s behavior. That said, Pence is handling this all pretty well in my book. It’s much more like a “normal debate” than what we saw on Sept. 26.
