We had an extensive discussion of the concept of “basket of deplorables,” which Pence referenced in response to Kaine’s attacks on the Trump campaign as insult driven. This comes out of a discussion of immigration, crime and deportation. Pence says his ticket’s focus is on criminal aliens. It’s worth noting that ICE, the agency coordinating border patrols, has primarily removed undocumented criminals.
