I think Clare's right about that exchange a few minutes ago where Pence said "you must've worked on that a long time," after Kaine had reeled off a whole bunch of Trump foreign policy miscues? A good line, I guess? But then Pence didn’t really defend any of Trump’s polices at all. It’s sort of emblematic of the whole debate. Not a lot of responsiveness on either side. Pence is sort of playing prevent defense, which is weird since Trump is behind. And Kaine is lobbing a lot of balls downfield but then giving up on the play.
