Why isn’t Vindman represented by a JAG officer? A source with knowledge of military legal proceedings tells me that type of representation isn’t exactly what anyone in the JAG corps does. His office’s legal counsel most likely represents the NSC and the JAG assigned there represents either the NSC or the DOD, so they wouldn’t be able to represent him personally. Anyone that would be assigned to be his defense counsel wouldn’t have much, if any, experience with someone testifying before Congress. He may very well have an assigned military defense counsel to talk through any court-martial issues, my source says, adding that Vindman is “much better off with a civilian counsel with experience representing someone testifying in Congress sitting by him.”

Castor is getting very close to questioning Vindman’s loyalty to the U.S. This is a really problematic series of questions.
