What Went Down On Day 3 Of The Trump Impeachment Hearings
Worth mentioning that the White House has tried to blame Vindman for the discrepancy between the readout of the April 21 call that was released earlier this year (which mentioned corruption) and the more detailed call summary that was made publicly available last week (where corruption wasn’t discussed). It will be interesting to see if that comes up during Republicans’ questioning.
Vindman testifies that he told Zelensky to “stay out of U.S. domestic politics,” stating that he was following protocol. He would “advise any country in my portfolio to not participate in U.S. domestic politics.”
I actually think that’s good for Republicans, as it confirms that a discussion of corruption wasn’t redacted from the call summary (which is not actually a transcript, even though that’s what everyone’s calling it). If it had been, that might’ve raised concerns about the completeness of the summary of the more inflammatory July 25 call.
