I doubt the Republicans will ever push to remove Trump, but Williams’s testimony suggests Pence was not too involved in Trump’s Ukraine moves, and there has been little reporting that puts Pence in the midst of this scandal. To Perry’s point, the Republicans are focusing on the fact that witnesses aren’t condemning the president’s actions as “impeachable.” But that’s obviously not their job, and even if they did go there, it wouldn’t be of value to Democrats anyway. The power of today’s witnesses, at least potentially, is that they are firsthand witnesses, not relying on what others told them.
