American presidents have an awful lot of authority over U.S. foreign relations, and historically this hasn’t been that controversial because our foreign policy has been pretty bipartisan. It’s become much clearer how much power presidents have over foreign policy now that American partisans disagree about how it should be used.

Yeah, she is apparently known as a very by the book bureaucrat, so I think this is a real show of fury at her situation, but also the state of the State Department — morale has reportedly been low for quite a while there.

She has not used Pompeo’s name, but she is attacking him quite harshly now.
