What Went Down During Marie Yovanovitch’s Testimony

My guess is that the Trump people assumed Yovanovitch would not play ball with them because she is a foreign service officer and a woman. Taylor, a man, of course replaced her and didn’t play ball with them either.

Yovanovitch: “Partisanship…is not compatible with a career foreign service officer.” This is truly the theme of the testimony of these State Department employees.

Yovanovitch puts Giuliani at the center for why she was fired from her post. “I do not understand Mr. Giuliani’s motives for attacking me, nor can I offer an opinion on whether he believed the allegations he spread about me.” In terms of the discussions we’ve had about whether she’ll be thought of as having bipartisan credibility, I can’t help but think Republicans will use this to show she has grievances against Giuliani and Trump.
