What Went Down During Marie Yovanovitch’s Testimony
Perry brings up a good point about the non-traditional way that Trump approaches foreign policy. We hear his people talk a lot about how he thinks of it in business terms: Ukraine “owes” him something. NATO countries need to pay more. He seems to miss the value of some of these international coalitions, many formed as a way to counterbalance communism, promote the West, etc., back in the middle of the 20th century.
“Our leadership depends on the power of our example,” the ambassador says, like this is 1991 and George H.W. Bush is president.
This is powerful from Yovanovitch – her view of how and why she was ousted: “How is it that foreign, corrupt interests could manipulate our government?”
