In response to Perry’s observation about credentials, this week has been a test of whether bipartisan credibility can be a thing in contemporary politics. Can anyone in public life be understood not to have an agenda – as Yovanovitch just described herself?
As Schiff reads the ambassador’s credentials, it’s worth noting that all three witnesses this week have impeccable credentials and have worked in administrations of both parties. The downside is that none of them have a lot of direct contact with Trump.
Like Taylor, Yovanovitch has strong nonpartisan credentials. She’s a longtime career diplomat who has served under six presidents, including Republicans and Democrats.
