Yeah, Perry, they seem to be arguing through these questions that the president or the White House was justified in having concerns about corruption. The president too has said that all along. It’s worth remembering, though, that Republicans, even more than Democrats, supported and voted for the aid package to Ukraine. Their public votes and statements at the time did not suggest they were looking for the aid to have more conditions.

Yeah, the answers to Castor’s questions right now are kind of irrelevant. He’s just asking a bunch of questions about whether Hunter Biden had any qualifications to serve on Burisma’s board — and, of course, putting those questions in the public eye is the point.

Kent said in his closed-door testimony that he tried to raise the alarm about Hunter Biden’s appointment to Burisma’s board back in 2015, because it could create the impression of a conflict of interest. This was an obvious breadcrumb for Republicans, so it’s not surprising to see Castor starting to seize on it.
