I think ultimately I agree with you, Amelia. Money can’t make an unelectable person electable, but it can probably help an electable person go further. It’s like happiness: Money can’t buy it, but if you’re already happy in your life, a little money can enhance things.

But I think the difference, Kaleigh, is that Steyer didn’t have a political track record or name recognition. Look, I am not saying another candidate would definitely have succeeded in Bloomberg’s place, but I agree with Micah that Bloomberg is not a great candidate, and it’s interesting to think about what would have happened if someone more palatable to Democratic voters had been able to blanket the airwaves and open dozens of field offices instead.
