What Went Down In Super Bowl LII

Wow, Clement was wide open at the beginning of that play.

And now, for the Eagles’ final boss battle: The NFL’s all-time leader in playoff game-winning drives.

And that’s why they gave Gene Steratore this game. Good call AND for the right reason.

And Cowboys fans.

Steelers fans must be furious.

I bet they don’t overturn this.

Giants fan who hates the catch rule and is fueled by agony for the Philadelphia Eagles chiming in, I LIVE FOR THIS EXACT SCENARIO

Roger Goodell nightmare.

The NFL deserves this. So does Philly. So does Boston.

That’s a touchdown TWICE. If this is overturned nothing means anything and we should all just go home.

I don’t even know the rule at this point. This is a perfect ending to this season.

Surely the coaches for the Eagles told the players, “don’t go out of bounds.”

That pass was great for the Eagles chances of scoring on this drive. Not as great if they were trying to hold the ball till the end of the game. Very likely Brady gets the ball back with a chance to win.

One of the big takeaways of the NFC Championship Game was Foles’ calm against pressure. He just basically looked at a free rusher, shrugged, waited for his man to get open and got the throw off. Poised Nick Foles is lethal.

Foles is definitely starting (for someone) next year.

What’s funny is that Carson Wentz is the Eagles QB known for mobility in and around the pocket, and firing missiles on the run. Most definitely NOT Foles.

Eagles have been late to the line this drive. Not going to diagnose from here, but it’s screwing with their rhythm, even on that last conversion.

“You have to start worrying about the clock here … .” What a novel concept that would be for Eagles coaches in the Super Bowl!

This is four down territory even with all this time.

Those quick slants right at the chains are Foles’s bread and butter. He can do that all the way down the field.

If the Pats hold on to win this game, America may be disappointed. According to a Monmouth poll, 43 percent of Americans were supporting the Eagles, compared to 18 percent supporting the Patriots. (Also, in an answer to my earlier question, apparently 49 percent of respondents consider the commercials the most interesting part of the game.) That said, according to a recent Rasmussen poll in late January, 46 percent of Americans thought the Patriots would win the Super Bowl; 25 percent believed in the Eagles. We shall see if the wisdom of crowds prevails.

I’m not sure what’s more upsetting, the idea that Jeff Bezos thinks he can appear in a Super Bowl ad and everyone will recognize him on sight, or that I recognized him on sight

Alright, pressure on Foles. He really hasn’t been in this spot in any game in years, let alone this stage.

So now the Pats are just 4 points shy of their second-half output from a year ago, when they made their record-setting comeback.

Shows just how impossible this offense is to defend. Imagine if they had Cooks. (Or Edelman, for that matter).

Interesting that they went MAX-GRONK on that first drive of this half, and the in the last two, they haven’t called his name.

I said the Eagles need to blitz, but if they’re going to blitz they have to have someone on Danny Amendola. He’s the safety blanket.

That game had five turnovers, Neil.

According to John Parolin and Jacob Emert of ESPN’s Stats & Information Group, the Super Bowl record for fewest combined punts is two, from Super Bowl XXXIII (one apiece for the Broncos and Falcons). There has been one total punt today.

I think the whole purpose of having an agent is so they can say “no” to “let’s recreate iconic Swayze-Jennifer Grey dance scene” without even consulting you.

Oh that’s right, the Pats were No. 2 in the NFL in second-half scoring defense this season. These red zone stops could end up saving the game.

(And of course, I’m defining a “stop” as “not a touchdown”. It still yielded points.)

In fact, that was the last time any defense got a stop, if you toss out that end-of-half drive for the Pats.

Maybe the worst play call of the day for Eagles. Lots of their calls have worked. But that was a big miss. And maybe some good D from Pats.

Pats’ D hadn’t stopped an Eagles drive since that tipped interception with 5 minutes left in the half.

Even the Greatest Show On Turf Rams could only hang 427 yards on Belichick’s Pats defense back in 2002. Tonight the Eagles have 467 through three quarters!

They need to stop playing the Super Bowl in these domes. Feels like the fast track always generates these shootouts. Remember when the Colts won an ugly game over the Bears in the rain? I want more of that. …. Actually, that game was really boring. But, you see my point.

There is no resistance right now. Three pretty easy drives for TD’s (two for Pats, one for Eagles) so far in this quarter. And right now, looking like a fourth one.
