What Went Down In Super Bowl LIV
Shockingly, Salfino and I disagree — again. People picking the Niners have overweighted defense and the running game, and using points scored to argue for the Niners over the Chiefs seems strained since Mahomes missed games earlier this season. But perhaps the best argument that the Chiefs are a better offense is that I very much doubt SF wants this to become a points race. The lower scoring the game, the more the Niners’ chances improve.
Oprah and The Rock are “mates”! Who knew?
Everyone’s rightly focused on the Chiefs’ offense against the 49ers’ defense, but I’m fascinated by the chess match between Kyle Shanahan and the Chiefs’ defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Spags has been here before — he engineered the New York Giants’ 2007 upset of the 18-0 New England Patriots–but he can be a gambler with aggressive playcalls, and Shanahan’s had two weeks to study his blitzes.
