In response to Perry’s point a bit ago about the border wall as an act of love, I looked at uses of the word “love” in State of the Union addresses since 1978 (Jimmy Carter’s first one). Presidents do use that word, but usually to describe how people feel about country, freedom or children. Love for fellow citizens is not something we usually hear.
