Right, Perry. So this press conference is about several senators saying the “skinny repeal” isn’t good enough, and they need an assurance from the House that there will be a conference in order to make dramatic changes to the bill. We still don’t even know what’s in “skinny repeal.”
Perry Bacon Jr.

Let’s note the insanity of McCain, perhaps the most well-known member of “the world’s greatest deliberative body,” holding a presser to say, “I want to vote for a bill that I think is terrible. Please Paul Ryan, let me do it.” He gave that speech about the Senate and its greatness, less than 72 hours ago.

What essentially this comes down to is that these Republican senators want to vote for a bill, which they don’t actually want to become law. That’s, to say the least, highly unusual. And as Perry points out, there’s really nothing that keeps Ryan and the House GOP from passing the Senate bill. I don’t think Ryan would screw over the Senate GOP, but what’s stopping him?
