Heller A ’Yes’ On A Skinny Repeal?

Heller told Politico’s Burgess Everett that he will most likely vote for a “skinny repeal” if one ends up on the table:
Heller’s comment leaves him plenty of wiggle room — “overall, I think I’d support it” isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement. Still, it’s the latest evidence that the Nevada senator, who was a key swing vote earlier in the process, is becoming a more reliable “yes” for whatever bill McConnell eventually comes up with. Heller, you may recall, came out swinging against the original Senate bill, but he later hinted that he was open to negotiations, and he ended up voting for Tuesday’s crucial motion to proceed. He was one of nine GOP “noes” in Tuesday night’s BCRA vote, which wasn’t a huge surprise, but Everett’s reporting suggests that Heller is unlikely to stand in the way of some sort of deal in the end. A Heller “yes,” by the way, would be further evidence that Perry is right that Trump’s much-derided strategy of going after Heller turned out to be the right play. Maybe that success explains why Trump is now taking a similarly aggressive stance with another swing voter, Murkowski.
