To reject this Biden talking point, Obama’s final choices for vice president were Biden, Tim Kaine and Evan Bayh. He was not looking for the most racially progressive person. He was in fact looking for something of the opposite — a person who made white voters comfortable with a black president. Do we really think Obama thought the best three people to be VP, on the merits, were three white guys?
