What Went Down In Robert Mueller’s Testimony
Chairman Nadler says that the remaining Democrats will take no longer than 15 minutes to ask their questions.
My takeaway is that this has just been a lot of grandstanding by congress people trying to advance an agenda and a lot of avoiding answering by Mueller. That said, there were a few sound bites, which Nate and Rick pointed out, that will be replayed a lot that are helpful on the margins to Democrats.
My takeaway is boringly aligned with the conventional wisdom, which is that although Democrats got the headline they wanted (“was not exculpated”), they didn’t really get much beyond that. Mueller being circumspect about going into details — and not really offering much forceful pushback, other than to Armstrong — didn’t particularly help him, even though he telegraphed that he was going to be circumspect ahead of time.
