What Went Down In Robert Mueller’s Testimony

The contrast between the questioners, who are trying to go fast and pack a lot of information and invective into their five minutes, and Mueller’s slow, careful responses — which often include asking for repetition or clarification — is quite jarring.

The Republicans are focusing on why Mueller investigated Trump for obstruction of justice even though he knew he wasn’t going to indict him. This has always been one of the strangest paradoxes of Mueller’s role — a special prosecutor can investigate potential criminal wrongdoing by a sitting president, but it’s impossible to charge him.
