What Went Down During President Trump’s Closing Speech At The RNC

Maybe I don’t remember prior conventions well enough, but I feel like this RNC has a bit of a throw-everything-at-the-wall feel (yes, pun intended, sorry). It’s got classic, incumbent “things are great” notes alongside classic demonizing of an unacceptable challenger, but also a lot of emphasis on current issues. It’s got dog whistles alongside an insistence on being pro-African American.

Right on cue, Amelia — Trump’s mention of the two new Supreme Court justices he appointed just got perhaps the loudest applause of the night from this crowd.

Just a public service announcement, as we have a lot of new people on this live blog: Biden leads in national and swing state polls, but there’s still plenty of campaign left, and our forecast shows Trump winning the Electoral College about 30 percent of the time.
