It is truly something else that there is a RNC segment about NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio. This is sorta out of left field for this convention, but he is pretty unpopular with a lot of the (NYC-based) media and he’s been seen as whiffing on a lot of COVID-19 stuff, so I guess they figure he’s an easy target?

Small thing, but while we’ve seen a lot of Black Americans during the RNC and some Hispanic Americans, there have been rather few Asian Americans, a group that once upon a time used to be fairly Republican-leaning.

Dan, I think it’s actually part of Trump’s broader attack on Democratic mayors in liberal cities and painting them as ineffective. That’s been an issue in attacks on Portland and elsewhere. (I’m thinking of governors like Newsom and Whitmer here, too.)
