Clare, I was surprised by that too. In perhaps a similar vein, I am also somewhat surprised at the talk of Trump being anti-war. It’s not a super salient issue right now, and as I pointed out in 2017, these promises were just as hard for Trump to stick to as they have been for past presidents.

My question is, though, are any of those potential cross-party voters watching the convention?

We just got another reference to Trump as the “anti-war” candidate. It would be an interesting strategy if we see that line consistently from the Trump campaign. Maybe a way to go after disaffected Sanders voters?
