What Went Down On Night 3 Of The RNC
Like the other women speaking tonight, Lara Trump brings up women’s suffrage and women as leaders more broadly. A consistent message tonight is that the Republican women in leadership positions were not appointed or hired because they were women, but because they were the best person for the job.
Many of the Trump relatives so far have given impassioned, culture-war based speeches — Donald Trump Jr., Tiffany and, perhaps most notably, Kimberly Guilfoyle. Lara Trump, on the other hand, speaks to Trump’s character, citing his embrace of women in the workplace.
Some people criticize the musicality of the national anthem because “The Star-Spangled Banner” is more difficult to sing than, say, “America The Beautiful” or “God Bless America.” But I like it because of the history behind its composition. And if you’ve never visited Fort McHenry, I recommend it.
