What Went Down On Night 3 Of The RNC

Like the past several nights, tonight the speakers are a bit all over the place, with respect to topics. But if I had to pick one constituency that this first hour is aimed at, I’d say white women suburban voters. I know we are critical of reporting that assumes demographic groups are monolithic constituencies — because they aren’t! But that doesn’t mean you don’t plan your convention around them.

Eh, a 1-point jump in margin isn’t much of a bounce. That could be noise at that level. Biden’s percentage went from 51.0 to 51.4 at his peak, so there’s hardly any shift there.

I think he did get a convention bounce, Galen! It was small, but he ticked up from +8.4 to +9.3 in our polling average, and his favorability ratings increased as well.
