What Went Down On Night 3 Of The RNC
Tony, I wonder if we’ll see any discussion about those players’ strikes. While I have a feeling we’ll hear quite a bit about standing for the anthem, the act of striking feels a bit harder to turn into a culture issue tonight.
While we hear from Lt. Gov. Keith Kellogg, Pence’s national security advisor who’s describing what he’s casting as Trump’s foreign policy victories, it’s worth remembering that many former Republican national security officials do not share this view. Trump has really broken from typical GOP foreign policy, which even Kellogg underscored: “Trump is no hawk.”
In non-politics news, four sports leagues now (the NBA, WNBA, MLB and MLS) have postponed all or some their games tonight (both the MLB and the MLS have some games that already started) following the players’s strike in response to the police shooting of Jacob Blake. This does make me wonder: Is tonight’s RNC the fourth- or even fifth-most significant thing happening right now?
