I don’t know, Sarah, I think Republicans have to find a way to address the latest police shooting and the hurricane, but mostly just so the media doesn’t hammer them for not addressing them. More fundamentally, is there any confusion about where Trump stands on issues of race and systemic racism? Could anything be said tonight that would change our understanding of where Trump and most of the GOP stand?

Will speakers at the Republican National Convention address the protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin? How will they talk about Hurricane Laura as it threatens the Gulf Coast? Galen Druke spoke with Sarah Frostenson and Nathaniel Rakich about those questions and what else to watch for tonight.

That’s such a good point, Nate. And the GOP has to address the situation in Kenosha, in particular, tonight, right? It’s just that the message of the last two days has centered so much on how the Republican Party is the party of diversity, and now there is reporting from Buzzfeed that the alleged shooter was at a Trump rally earlier this year. I just don’t see how they don’t address it head-on and early, especially as it’s part of their pivot. What do others think?
