The GOP has clearly made efforts to showcase diverse voices: women, people of color, Black Republicans. I think Perry is right that this is likely a play to the moderate, suburban white voters, though, more so than trying to reach anyone from those particular groups.

There have been quite a few Black speakers featured at this convention. I would love to know how all of this is playing with Black voters, particularly different groups of Black voters. But usually polling has fairly small samples of Black voters to begin with, so you don’t get the sort of detail you’d like to drill into detailed questions like this.
