OK, so we’ve got this second reality TV-esque stunt (that is also a really important thing in these peoples’ lives): a naturalization ceremony with Trump present. This follows his pardon earlier. What a night.

Trump has been the most anti-immigation president in recent memory. He has been proud of this, talking proudly of his efforts to clamp down on illegal immigration and trying to wind down Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. So it’s very striking to see him have a naturalization ceremony and feature that as part of his political brand.

Speaking of Trump’s character, according to a Pew poll from June, Biden is viewed as more honest, even-tempered, and is seen as a better role model and more caring, than Trump. Trump, however, leads Biden on <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2020/06/PP_06.30.20“energetic” and slightly on “courage.”
