We are hearing a lot about school choice during this RNC. I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised — it’s a classic Republican policy — but it might also resonate with parents who are watching their kids prepare to go back to school virtually right now. Strikes me as a bit like the speakers from the DNC who gave their messages from empty classrooms, although the message is obviously very different.

Núñez’s speech decrying socialism seems to be a theme of this convention. But one question I’ll be thinking about going into debates is whether such a line of attack will be effective against Biden?

Núñez is Cuban American, so she fits with the GOP’s efforts to play up the party’s diversity. She’s also someone you might want to keep an eye on: DeSantis has clear presidential aspirations in 2024, and she’s next in line in Florida.
