Another area where the president has a fair amount of power is in expediting or greenlighting aid in the face of a natural disaster. Reynolds spent a fair amount of time praising Trump’s efforts in Iowa, but the actions he took there weren’t all that extraordinary as far as natural disasters go. That’s something a president does.

I’m not sure that Tiffany’s speech wasn’t on point. She’s a recent law school grad, and I think this part of the convention is about Trump’s promotion and nurturing of women. The fact that she’s a well-spoken adult seems to kind of do a lot of the work.

Kim Reynolds is, I believe, the most populous state governor speaking at the RNC, and Iowa ranks just 32nd in population. The absence of Greg Abbott of Texas, Brian Kemp of Georgia, Mike DeWine of Ohio and Ron DeSantis of Florida is pretty noteworthy.
