After seeing a lobsterman on stage, it’s worth noting that Maine was actually in the news today. A court ordered that a referendum to repeal the use of ranked-choice voting in presidential elections must go on the ballot. As a result, RCV will not be used to decide the presidential vote in the state, with its future use for that office pending the result of that referendum. This does not affect the use of RCV in other offices, however.

Both political parties are prominently featuring everyday Americans at their conventions, despite the more limited time slots available this year. But Republicans are featuring them more in traditional endorsement speeches.
