Fun Fact: Rand Paul is the only federal lawmaker to speak tonight. Nate mentioned this earlier, but that’s kind of wild, right?! One of the perils of this being the party of Trump now, yeah? Context: It’s harder to have other high profile figures speak.

Paul is talking about the 1994 Crime Bill, Biden’s support for it and the effect it had on the lives of Black men. I think we might have mentioned this last night, but I can’t help but feel like the harping on Biden’s 1994 record, a big point of contention in the Democratic primary, is an attempt to repeat what the Trump campaign did in 2016, which was attempt to lower enthusiasm in the Black community for the Democratic nominee, if not win their votes.

For what it’s worth, Pompeo is another Trump administration official who is accused of being a repeat violator of the Hatch Act — including his speech tonight.
