Starting off with the vice president of the Navajo Nation seems to be another Republican appeal to create a picture of a broad inclusive party. How do Indigenous tribes tend to identify with the major political parties? Research suggests that Indigenous People tend not to identify with either party. Like Perry was saying last night, the party seems to be reassuring its base more than persuading new voters.

Last night was a balancing act between optimism and painting a dark picture of an America under Biden. I expect to see a lot more of that balancing act tonight — though perhaps with less flair.
