The result in Mississippi is hardly a surprise; our forecast gave Biden a greater than 99 in 100 (99 percent) chance of winning there. So this isn’t automatically a problem for Sanders. We’ll have to wait to see what the margin is, though.

While we wait on more results, here’s a preliminary exit poll finding that demonstrates some of the variety in today’s contests. In Mississippi, 61 percent say they’d like to see the next president return to the policies of the Obama administration, which is the highest mark in any state with exit poll data this cycle. But in Washington, just 41 percent wanted this, with 44 percent instead saying they’d like to see more liberal policies.
