Well, it’s (sorta) official: Madison Cawthorn has apparently conceded in North Carolina’s 11th District. According to the North Carolina State Board of Elections, only five precincts are left unaccounted for and Cawthorn still trails Edwards by about 1,500 votes. Of course, as we’ve said time and time again on this blog, Cawthorn’s anticipated loss shouldn’t be too surprising given the number of scandals he’s been involved in. Plus, polling predicted a close race here. Edwards, however, will likely now face Democrat Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, who won her primary tonight with roughly 60 percent of the vote. Still, the district overall is still favorable for Republicans this fall: As I mentioned earlier, the 11th District has a partisan lean of R+14.
