I really need to stress here how extreme some of the ideas Mastriano espoused around the Big Lie are. Back in 2020, he was tweeting about the state legislature having the authority to select an alternate slate of electors if an election is “compromised,” and tried to actually make that happen. As in, usurping the power of the electorate and appropriating Electoral College votes to whomever the (Republican-controlled) legislature saw fit. This man is now the Republican nominee for governor for Pennsylvania.
