While the progressive Booker faces stiff headwinds in Kentucky’s general election, Paul also drew strong opponents in both of his previous races — state Attorney General Jack Conway in 2010 and Lexington Mayor Jim Gray in 2016. Kentucky has Democratic DNA that can occasionally rear its head.
