In 2020, Nathaniel and I wrote about Trump’s tendency to endorse safe candidates, sometimes at the last minute, and floated the idea that he does that to pad his record. That said, it also seemed like his endorsements didn’t reflect any strategy at all. This time around seems different, as Nathaniel and former politics intern Mackenzie wrote, more recently. Trump is taking more risks this year. Not the case with Paul in Kentucky, obviously, as Jean just said. But his endorsement will be put to the test in several places tonight.
