Will Americans’ Top Issues Play A Role In How They Vote Tonight?

FiveThirtyEight is partnering with Ipsos on a series of seven polls that will help us better understand which issues Americans think are the most important ones facing the country. We’ll poll the same group of about 2,000 Americans each month until the midterms to ask about which issues worry them the most and their general knowledge about these issues.

And each month, we’ll dive deep on one issue. Earlier today, Geoffrey and I wrote about the results of our first FiveThirtyEight/Ipsos poll conducted using Ipsos’s KnowledgePanel, which was all about inflation. Inflation is on many Americans’ minds right now, with over 50 percent of Americans saying that inflation was the most worrying topic to them personally and the most important issue facing the country.

With that in mind, I’ll be paying close attention to how inflation as well as political extremism and polarization might play a role in tonight’s primaries.
