The race in the 13th District piqued my interest because one of the other candidates is Janet Folger Porter, who is best known as the architect of the type of abortion ban that successfully went into effect in Texas last fall, making it impossible to get an abortion after about six weeks of pregnancy. Porter was pushing for early abortion bans way before it seemed plausible that the Supreme Court would consider overturning Roe (hard to remember that time, I know!) and she started those efforts in Ohio. But those traditional Christian conservative bona fides aren’t a guarantee, of course, and as Alex said, Gilbert is seen as the favorite.
