Now for a brief update on Ohio’s 13th District. For what it’s worth, the district is pretty swingy but it still leans slightly Republican. On the Democratic side, state Rep. Emilia Sykes runs unopposed. The GOP side is where things get a bit more … tricky. Going into tonight, I suspected Gilbert was the favorite to win the GOP primary considering she has Trump’s endorsement and is the leading fundraiser. She’s also likely known in Republican circles given her involvement with the party; she’s done work as a conservative political commentator. Initially, Gilbert sought to challenge Rep. Marcy Kaptur in the 9th District, but later switched to the vacant 13th District. So far, she’s leading her GOP competitors — but, again, the night is still young.
